He’s Coming…

(Working Title)

Camden People’s Theatre | Calm Down, Dear (July 2021)

This bold one-woman show explores the conquests and mishaps of a girl-cum-woman, on a journey to sexual enlightenment. After her boyfriend breaks up with her, Nell is determined to find one thing: a man who will make her reach her ‘peak’. But as she navigates her way through a series of cringe-worthy dates and dodgy sex positions, this intercourse malarkey might not be exactly like it is in all those 00s music videos, after all…

This fiercely funny monologue delves into a sequence of sexual scenarios, under which lie issues of female pleasure, intimacy, male validation, porn culture and the commodification of female bodies.

Written and performed by Ella Dorman-Gajic.

Directed by Phoebe Wood.

Staged as a work-in-progress showing as part of Calm Down, Dear Festival in July 2021.

Audience responses:

A play full of conflict and comedy

I will be talking about this performance for some time

This play was borne out of a short monologue titled ‘The Tory Who Came in my Face’, which was staged at The Arcola Theatre in February 2020, to critical acclaim:

Dorman-Gajic’s energy and confidence is powerful and the recipe for a brilliant storyteller, she has us in the palm of her hand” – A Younger Theatre
